What follows is the boring but useful part: what our licences actually cover, who checks the work, and how a visit runs from your first call to the paperwork in your hand.

Plumber, Drainer and Gasfitter Licences Explained
Queensland requires an occupational licence for anyone doing plumbing and drainage work, a contractor licence for the business that takes the job on, and the QBCC issues both.
The occupational licence shows the person on the tools has the skills for the work. The contractor licence shows the business behind the job has the financial capacity and training to run jobs properly.
Each class covers its own ground:
Plumber's licence
covers plumbing work, apart from anything needing its own endorsement.
Drainer's licence
covers drainage work below ground level, again apart from anything needing its own endorsement.
Gas work licence
gas work sits on its own licence, covering installing, altering, repairing, servicing, testing and certifying a gas system and its pipework.
Regulated plumbing and drainage work splits into permit work, notifiable work and minor work, and a licensed plumber or drainer must do all three. The QBCC says that protects the home, your health and your rights.

Paperwork and Inspections After a Job
Two bodies share the checking: the QBCC licenses plumbers, runs the notifiable work register and polices unlicensed work, while the City of Brisbane assesses applications, issues permits and carries out inspections.
Depending on the job, you may receive:
A Form 4
after notifiable work, lodged with the QBCC so the work is registered against the property.
A gas system compliance certificate
after gas work on a new install or alteration, handed over as soon as the job is finished.
The QBCC's online registers let you confirm a licence, and an address search shows whether a Form 4 has been lodged for your place. If a copy never arrives, the QBCC can supply one.

Questions Milton Customers Ask
Call (07) 3523 7172Does gas work in a Milton home need a separate licence?
Yes, gas work sits apart from plumbing, and only a licensed gasfitter may carry it out in Queensland. Before we start, you're welcome to ask to see the gas work licence itself.
Is every job in Milton done by a licensed plumber?
Yes, every job is done by a licensed plumber. We work under QBCC No: 15024607, licensed and insured.
Who inspects plumbing work in a Milton home?
The City of Brisbane issues permits and inspects, and you can ask the council to inspect notifiable work at any stage. The QBCC handles licensing and keeps the notifiable work register.
What can I do if plumbing work in Milton turns out faulty?
Raise it with us first and give us the chance to put it right. If work may be unlicensed, defective or non-compliant, you can lodge a complaint with the QBCC online.
